   Our Child Development Programs

Our full service child care centers offer an array of programs and services to the families and clients we serve. Our mission is to offer the highest quality early care and education to each child each day. Our programs reflect the latest knowledge and best practice in field of early care and education.

The latest medical and educational research tells us that we are born with all the brain cells that we will ever have, but the brain must build the circuitry to make future learning possible. Perhaps the most significant aspect of this research for us as parents and early education professionals is this: Most of the brain’s circuitry will be fully developed before a child begins his or her formal education at age six. Children’s Choice recognizes and respects how important your child’s early years are to a successful future.

INFANTS
Our infant educators know that more than anything else, your little one needs to be loved. And because your child’s caregiver knows how difficult it is for you to entrust you baby to anyone else, she makes it a priority to build a strong relationship with you. She will spend time with you every day when you bring your baby to the classroom and when you pick him up. She will write down what your baby ate, when he slept, and other things you need to know on his Infant Daily Report.

Our educators also understand how quickly your baby will grow and learn. Your child’s caregiver will create an individual lesson plan for him based on his developmental milestone checklist and plan activities to encourage his emerging skills. She will talk to your baby on his eye level, describe his environment to him, read to him, and play games with him.

TODDLERS
You probably already know that your toddler is a little explorer! She has discovered the freedom that learning to walk brings and has set out to see how her world works. Our educators understand this active learner. Based on your toddler’s developmental milestone checklist, your child’s caregiver will design lesson plans with learning experiences that foster her skills in all areas of growth and development—language and literacy, intellectual, physical, and social/emotional.

Your child's caregiver knows that warm, nurturing interactions with your toddler is essential to healthy self-esteem and to gaining the confidence to try new things. She will talk to your child on her eye level, hug her, and read to her.  Your child’s caregiver understands your child’s love of repetition and never tires of singing her favorite song or reading her favorite book over and over again.

Your toddler’s caregiver will share her day with you, both verbally and on her Toddlers/Twos Daily Report where she records what she ate, when she slept, and what activities she enjoyed. She is always available to talk with you about your toddler’s experience at Children’s Choice.

TWO-YEAR-OLDS
Your two-year-old is showing a strong desire to do things independently. He helps dress himself, feed himself, and wants to help you at home. He is becoming more social and enjoys playing with other children. His educator understands his emerging independence and offers both small group and individual activities to foster his skills in all areas of growth and development—language and literacy, intellectual, physical, and social/emotional.

Your child's educator offers the learning experiences provided through Children’s Choice Classics© and offers additional activities based on your child’s developmental milestone checklist. Your child will enjoy reading books, working on puzzles, and building structures with blocks. He will explore textures and learn math concepts with water and sand in Sensory Play. Home Center provides him the opportunity for pretend play, to practice language skills, and to understand his feelings and those of others.

Your child’s educator will share his day with you—the great activities he enjoyed, what he ate, when he slept, and other things you want to know—both verbally and on his Toddlers/Twos Daily Report. She is always available to talk with you about his experience at Children’s Choice.

PRESCHOOLERS
The latest brain research tells us that before the age of six, children learn best through concrete experiences. Your 3- to 5-year-old explores her world through her senses—touch, taste, sight, hearing, and smell. Your child’s educator understands this stage of development and provides learning activities that are challenging but not overwhelming. Our Children’s Choice Classics© is a literacy-based curriculum that provides inviting experiences related to great children’s books. Your child’s educator offers additional activities to meet her individual needs as shown on her developmental milestone checklist to foster her skills in all areas—language and literacy, intellectual, physical, and social/emotional.

Your preschooler will flourish in the well-organized, clearly defined environment at Children’s Choice. Preschool classrooms are arranged into learning centers that promote independence, foster creative thinking, and encourage initiative. Your child may:

  • Explore leaves and rocks with a magnifying glass in Science & Discovery
  • Estimate the number of jellybeans in a jar in Math/Manipulatives
  • Build a skyscraper in Block Center
  • Create a collage in Art Center
  • Learn to measure and pour water or sand in Sensory Play
  • Pretend to be a zookeeper using a Zoo Prop Box in Home Center
  • “Read” a book to her friends in Language & Literacy
  • Practice math skills with a friend on the computer
  • Strengthen her muscles with aerobic exercise in Outdoor Play

Your child’s educator will share her day with you--the great activities she enjoyed and other things you want to know--and she is always available to talk with you about your child’s experience at Children’s Choice.

KINDERGARTEN AND FIRST GRADE
Some of our locations offer exemplary private kindergarten and first grade with lower student-to-teacher ratios than you will find in the public schools. Our highly qualified educators implement carefully selected curriculum in language, reading, math, science, and social studies. Should you choose a private school program for your child at Children’s Choice, he will benefit from an excellent beginning to his academic life that will lead to a lifelong love of learning.

SCHOOL AGE PROGRAM
Many of our schools provide before- and after-school care and programs for summer and school holidays. Our goal for school-age children is to enhance and enrich their school day rather than replicate it. We offer experiences through our Children’s Choice Classics© curriculum and encourage children to take part in planning their own activities. In our school-age classrooms, you will find:

  • Group projects, such as putting on a play or publishing a class newspaper
  • Long-term projects, such as recycling and reading chapter books
  • Community projects, such as gathering canned goods and clothes for families in need

Your school-age child will find a neighborhood environment where she can talk with her friends, read a good book, and play cooperative games both indoors and outdoors. As in all of our classrooms, your child's educator is always available to talk about your child's experience at Children's Choice.
